Welcome to Swanson's Canadian Institute of Electrolysis! Founded in 1972, we are a family-run business committed to setting the gold standard in electrolysis training. Our mission is to highlight the value of proper education in this field, empowering professionals to make a lasting impact. We’ve seen firsthand how permanent hair removal transforms lives, offering freedom from constant waxing, sugaring, tweezing, threading, and other temporary methods. This career is deeply rewarding, providing both personal fulfillment and the opportunity to help clients feel confident and carefree.

As electrologists, we often say we’re lucky to be in this business—it’s a privilege to help people achieve their goals while building meaningful connections.

We’re Karen and Kevin Dykstra, proud owners of Swanson’s Canadian Institute of Electrolysis and A & E Beauty Supplies. Married since 2007, we live in Chilliwack, BC, with our four children: Jacob (15), Alexis (13), Marcus (10), and Jordan (8). Our journey in this industry is rooted in family values, passion, and a drive for excellence.

Since acquiring Swanson’s, we’ve been focused on modernizing and expanding its offerings. We’re working hard to bring both of our businesses into the 21st century with websites, social media, online ordering, and a broader range of supplies. We strive to serve you with care, dedication, and innovation.

A Note from Karen:

I started my electrolysis journey in 2017 as a client and was instantly drawn to this incredible profession. By 2018, I had opened my own practice, The Sardis Electrolysis Lounge, after years of running a home daycare that allowed me to stay close to our children. Owning my first business prepared me for this exciting chapter of helping others through electrolysis.

When I began studying electrolysis theory, I dreamed of one day owning Swanson’s Canadian Institute of Electrolysis. Today, that dream is a reality. It’s a privilege to not only help clients but also to train future Certified Electrologists. This work allows us to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, and we’re excited to share this rewarding career with others.
